How much to charge for photo booth hire

Most photo booth businesses charge for a block of hire time with a minimum booking, then price the booth type and extras on top. Mirror and 360 booths usually cost more than an open-air booth. Prints, custom backdrops and guestbooks are the usual add-ons, and each one costs you money or time on the day.

How photo booth businesses set their prices
Hourly hire with a minimum
A rate per hour of hire and a minimum of two or three hours. Clients can extend on the night, and short bookings still cover the van and the setup.
Packages
Bundles like three hours with unlimited prints and a guestbook. Couples like one price, and a package sells extras that people might skip on a list.
Rates by booth type
A different hourly rate for each booth you own, shown side by side. Clients can pick a budget option, and you don't have to discount your best booth to win the booking.

Pricing mistakes to avoid
- Counting only the hours guests use the booth. Driving, carrying gear in, setting up, testing the printer and packing down can take as long as the hire itself.
- Pricing a 360 booth like an open-air one. A mirror or 360 booth costs more to buy and is more work on the night. Our template adds 20% for a mirror booth and 40% for a 360° video booth.
- Throwing in unlimited prints. Paper and ink cost money on every strip, and a busy wedding can use a lot of both. Our template charges $150 for unlimited prints in the US.
- Taking two-hour bookings at your hourly rate. Short bookings still fill most of your day and block the date for anyone else. Our template has a 2-hour minimum hire and a $450 minimum price in the US.
- Forgetting the attendant's wage. Someone has to run the booth, hand out props and clear paper jams, and their hours belong in your rate.

Questions
- Should I sell packages or charge by the hour?
- Packages work well for weddings, where couples want one price that covers prints and a guestbook. Hourly hire suits corporate clients who book for a set time. Work out your hourly rate first either way, so every package makes money.
- Should I take a deposit for photo booth bookings?
- Yes. A booth can only be at one event at a time, so the deposit pays you for holding the date. Take the balance before the event, so you're not chasing money after the party.
- Should I charge more for Saturdays?
- Many booth businesses do, since Saturdays in wedding season book up first. Offer a lower weekday or off-season rate instead of discounting your busiest dates.
- Should I charge a delivery fee?
- Yes, once a venue is outside your usual area. Charge by distance after that, and remember a far-away booking can fill your whole day, even for a two-hour hire.
- How do I show photo booth prices on my website?
